She then attended Union Theological Seminary and graduated with her Master of Divinity degree in 1999. She attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Winnie’s parents immigrated to the United States from India, and Winnie spent part of her early childhood years there. She is also a published author, editor, and podcaster. Winnie serves on the Board of Trustees of Union Theological Seminary, she chaired the General Convention’s Committee on the State of the Church from 2015 to 2018, and she served on the Board of Trustees of the Episcopal Divinity School, 2013-2016. She is a native of Dallas, Texas and is married to Elizabeth Toledo, a public relations executive. Winnie was also Chaplain at both Columbia University and University of California Los Angeles. Prior to Trinity, Winnie served as Rector and Priest-in-Charge at St. Luke's, she served as Priest for Ministry and Program Coordination at Trinity Church Wall Street in New York City. Luke’s, many parishioners are involved in a variety of community ministries as we strive to live out our faith as articulated in the Baptismal Covenant: “to strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.” Likewise, coming from the work of our most recent strategic plan, several ministries reflect parishioners’ desire to be a “voice” and advocate for the poor, to strive for social justice, and to seek peace in the life of the Atlanta community and the world.Īt St. Some are seasonal, such as the Refugee Resettlement Ministry, and others are year-round, such as Standing Together, which is a ministry of presence of parishioners who support individuals who are homeless in their goal toward self-sufficiency.Īll are engaged with individuals in need, and all come with the potential of transformation for the parishioner as well as the individual served. Other ministries involve longer-term commitments to individuals, such as the recently completed “I Have a Dream” project. Involvement can be in the form of time or contributions of goods or money, such as with the monthly Fill the Baskets ministry. Many outreach opportunities do not require long-term commitments.
